The County Commission tackled 48 items on their Work Session Agenda Thursday night. The purpose of the work session is to understand the agenda topics and place them on the agenda for the regular meeting. No action or voting can be taken at a Work Session meeting.
The meeting lasted a little over 3 hours and some items were skipped, as the County Manager was out of town at a Public Works Training Session. Where this is an unprecedented feat, 3 hours is just too long for a meeting, so the commissioners agreed to hold all future agenda to 20 items or less.
It is very pleasing to see the Commissioners working together, holding spirited debate, while still maintaining civility in the meetings. The Commission Work Session Chambers housed probably 40 or more people for the meeting, as there were several issues that had the public's attention.
The regular meeting of the County Commission will be February 17th at 6pm at the courthouse.

Subdivision Meeting
On January 27, the Commissioners met in a called meeting to discuss a Private Development (PD) with Magnolia Developers, the new Subdivision Ordinance proposed by the Planning Commission and general zoning for the county. There was a lot of healthy discussion about how we can make safe and productive progress now, while protecting the interest of the county, the environment and developers. More information on the actual actions of the Commission will be distributed through approved media channels.
All in all, it was a good meeting, with spirited debate and discussion, that was conducted in a professional manner. More information will be forthcoming in the February 17 meeting of the Commission that will be held at 6pm at the courthouse.

Welcome To Brantley County Georgia
Welcome to Brantley County's proposed site. The proposal is to use something like this to replace the existing website.
In an attempt to open up our county government to the tax payers, potential residents and those wishing to bring business and industry to Brantley County, the commission is electing to utilize the Internet. Routine financial reports, meeting & event calendars and a host of other items can be distributed on the web. A process of "publishing" information would need to be adopted as there are certain and minimal legal requirements to be followed.
In association with other entities like the Chamber of Commerce, Development Authority, Planning Commission and all other departments throughout the county, this site could be used to distribute information and provide critical contact information to streamline our government process.
Stay tuned for more updates as the commission discusses and hopefully adopts these new processes.
